About Laura Kisaoglu
My name is Laura Kisaoglu, but I sign my paintings: Laura Kaye. I live in Lake Worth, Florida. I grew up in Oklahoma and lived there for half of my life. The other half I have lived in Florida. My fascination for painting began only a few years ago. I started to paint mostly out of boredom but also I always admired wall art and thought wouldn't it be cool if I could paint pictures like I enjoyed looking at when I shopped at decorator stores or was in homes and offices! My first thought was to paint a house similar to the Addison Mizner style homes. I always loved the Spanish style like the Moorish homes with the red clay tiled roofs and interesting roof levels and especially love the big rounded top cedar doors. So I bought my as Watercolor Art supplies and thought to paint something like that. I realized after I started to paint my own art that I learned many painting techniques on my own. That is called "trial and error". Experience is the best teacher. It's funny because I have never painted my "masterpiece house " yet. I am still looking for the best looking house that I can use the stlye of architecture and make a great painting. I guess I haven't found it yet. So in the meantime I paint what I like. Sometimes I paint animals, some seascapes and many landscapes. I especially like to paint buildings and brickwork in watercolors. I have painted a beautiful Cathedral that was sold to a great friend of mine. Even before giving paintings away and selling some to friends I painted a few other churches in the Southwestern style. I also painted a few Southwestern style houses. I have also tried a few paintings of people, but portraits are not my speciality at this time! I have always been interested in art. When a child I made many craft items. I loved taking ordinary items that some people throw in the trash and turn them into treasure. I used to sew my own clothes, and have designed some. I can do almost any craft I set my mind to. Painting to me is not really a craft but is an art and something that allows me to create but also to be caught up in the process which is mesmerising and relaxing. it is a source of deep satisfaction for me. I love what I do and I hope others appreciate what goes into it! A new Chapter has started. I now work in Acrylics. Different but cool and also creating some digitally altered pieces by altering my own artwork instead of altering photos. This gives me more satisfaction that I am creating really unique art.
